Serving the homeless means more to me than I would have ever thought! As I looked into the eyes of these people yesterday I saw the hurt ,pain and the suffering they have but also saw the gratitude they have for those that care. The people are all ethnicity and ages. I'm sure each one has a story to tell on how and why there in the predicament their in.Whatever the reason I'm sure it's not where they want to be!
There no possible way to serve these people without having donations! It's as important as the ones that give of their time preparing and serving! We served approximately 150 people breakfast yesterday morning. The menu varies while each group that prepare and serve choose what to prepare! Our group served pancakes, bacon, oatmeal fruit and granola toppings, fresh oranges and grapefruit slices, coffee and orange juice! I was amazed at that there were no left overs but also there was just enough to serve all the people!
I want to finish with a scripture that I hope touches your heart as it does mine...
Matthew 25:34-40English Standard Version (ESV)
34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
